In 2013, Austria’s public channel ORF hosted the broadcast of the alpine ski world championships in Schladming. The basic idea for the design was a race against time. Numbers – resembling time-measurement and speed – race downhill against athletes. This 3D-concept – allowing perspectives and camera angles that wouldn’t have been possible with live footage – shows skiing in an emotional end exciting way. Another advantage of the concept was that it could serve as a system for ORF’s overall sports design (which was also to be defined at the time). Besides the usual branding elements, I developed and produced a complete information graphics system. The production of the opener was done by Silver Animation, Munich.
